Skiing and Mountain Boarding – For beginners and families head to Tracouet lift and ski area where there are beginners slopes and ski areas. Similar facilities are offered at Siviez where, like Tracouet there is a moving snow carpet and beginners slopes.

The best ski itineraries for the more adventurous start from Siviez,  heading up the new lift to Plan du Fou, or to Chassoure for the perfect snowing into Lac Veau or back down the famous Tortin Mougul run or up to Col des Gentianes and Mont Fort for incredible skiing down the Mont Fort Glacier and back down to Tortin. Tortin was recently voted one of the world’s top 15 ski runs in the Daily Telegraph “World’s Best Ski Runs”

The Daily Mail called Nendaz “The Thinking Man’s Verbier” in an article about Nendaz (Daily Mail) describing its strengths as family oriented yet giving access to the incredible 4 Vallees and Verbier ski area “where else does Santa parachute in on Christmas eve”

Further information and ski maps from the 4 Vallees and latest ski prices for the 14/15 season can be found here

Ski School – There are many choices, from the Ecole Suisse de Ski   located in Nendaz near the butchers to Montagne Magic. We have used both for our three children and for private tuition for ourselves, they are excellent. Ecole Suisse run from Tracouet and Siviez, Montagne Magic we have used for more advanced lessons

Ski Guiding – Try Montagne Magic run by Justin, great local knowledge and expertise, we have used them many times as have friends in Nendaz.

Cross Country and Alpine

Close to the Chalet is Nendaz cross country skiing area which offers about 10km of prepared cross-country paths for free, with local parking. The location is beautiful, running through the forests above Pracondu and to the ancient forests du Praz. For more information see cross-country skiing Nendaz You can also stay the night in local huts, Cabane Mont Fort and Cabane Tortin for a wonderful winter experience. Cabane Tortin requires a ski down Mont Fort or walk up.

Snow Walking

Extensive snow walking paths available from both Nendaz and Siviez. We like the walks from Siviez resort up by the river, or on the rhs up to Ti-Pee resetaurant which we have done with the family.

Ice Skating

Nendaz has a large Ice Rink also used for Hockey games. Its next to Migros / Coop and floodlit at night. Its Open from 10.00 am to 4.30 pm, and skates can be hired. There is an ice disco in the evenings.

Sledging

Set near the ski run, the 3km long sledge run of Tortin offers a track full of fun. Meant to satisfy everybody from young to old, it guarantees fun for the whole family all season long. Sledges can be hired and you can take them up the Siviez lift at a lower cost. See Sledging Siviez

If you don’t fancy the 3km track and want to something more locally, there is a small sledging hill floodlit in the evenings in the lower part of the village between the Chalet and Migros – its about 10 minutes walk and great fun for the family.

Nendaz For non-skiers

Plenty to do including the list above: Curling, Skating, Ice Hockey, Health and Fitness, Snow Shoes, Wine Tasting, Spa and more. We found this write up very useful Nendaz for non-skiers
